Good to hear from you Terry. I was wondering if anyone has done any research in the Bristol, UK, area. In the book "Marriage Bonds For The Diocese Of Bristol, Vol. 1, 1637-1700" I found the following entries: Page 146, November 25, 1682 Andrew Smether, Shirehampton, Gloucestirshire, Yeoman, and Mary Bingham, Almondsbury. Bondsman William Hodgis, Bristol, Mariner: at Almondsbury.
On page 149, April 13, 1683 Henry Bingham, Almondsbury, Gent., and Margaret Stephens, Olveston. Bondsman Andrew Smither, Shirehampton, gent. At Olveston. On page 178: December 8, 1686 William James, Bristol, sailor, and Rachell Smether, Westbury, Glouschestershire. Bondsman Thomas Day, Bristol, goldsmith. At St. Augustine. On page 228: April 23, 1692 Robert Vaughan, Abergavenny, Mon., dyer, and Rebecca Smither, Shirehampton, Glos. Bondsman Moore Waters, Llangattock, Mon., flannel merchant. At St Nicholas.
Anyone have any thoughts about our ancestors coming from the Bristol, Shirehampton, Almondsbury area? Has anyone already searched this lead?
