Hi guys,
My smart family also lived in Jackson County Alabama and some of them moved to Antoine ,Clark County Arkansas.I have looked at these other Smart families before and wondered if there was a connection,but could never make one.
My family, Daniel Smart and his wife Lettice came from Murry County Georgia to Cherokee County Alabama around 1860. From there they moved to Jackson County Alabama .
One of their children John stayed in Cherokee County and raised his family there . Another , My ggg grandfather Robert Lee Smart raised his family in Jackson County (Scottsboro area) Alabama until his untimely death in 1912.
He and his wife both died from the flu less than 24 hours apart.Some of the other children moved on to Clark County Arkansas ,I believe by 1900.
My computer crashed a couple of months ago so most of this is just off the top of my head.
If either of you are interested I would like to make contact .I would be happy to go through my paper files & give you some better details on my branch. I would guess that at least some of these Smart families connect in one way or another.
