I am researching the family of Harrison P. White b. 4 Aug 1814 in Kentucky and his wife, Bethany/Bethana Smallwood b. in Madison County, KY 5 March 1819. This couple was married in Howard County 9 Nov 1838.
Bethany was the daughter of Elijah C. Smallwood who died in Boone County Oct 1851. Her mother was Nancy Benton who had died earlier.
I do not know the parents of Harrison P. White.
Their children were:
Susan Elizabeth b. 8 Aug 1840 who married George Stemmons. She died in 1875 (my line)
Benton b. 1844 m. Susan Turner
John W. b. 1846
Sarah A. b. 1848 m. John Street
Nancy A. b. 1850
Laura b. 1853 m. Thomas Cook
George H. b. 1855 m. Lucy Rucker (her family was living next door to the Whites in a census)
Edgar b. 1856 Raised Sheep in Texas
Thomas J. b. 1858 m. Margaret E.
Newton b. 1862
The father of this family, Harrison P. White was a blacksmith and a constable according to census records. They lived in both counties, but were mainly in Fayette, Howard County. It is said that Harrison P. White was buried in Rocheport, Boone County, MO. Maybe Bethany Smallwood is there, too.
