ERICA,
YOUR GRT. GRANDPA WAS NAMED FOR CASSIUS CLAY OF KENTUCKY, HE WAS VERY WELL KNOWN IN THE 1800'S. YOU CAN FIND A LOT OF INFORMATION IN DEATH CERTIFICATES, TAX RECORDS , LAND DEEDS AND OF COURSE CENSUS RECORDS. MY PARENTS WERE GOOD ABOUT SAVING ALL SORTS OF FAMILY RECORDS, DEATH NOTICE'S, ESTATE INFORMATION. THE ONLY BAD THING SOME OF IT WAS LOST TO A FLOOD. YOUR DAD MAY HAVE RECORDS HE DOES NOT THINK IMPORTANT BUT COULD HAVE DATES AND NAMES OF FAMILY AND PLACES THAT COULD LEAD YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. YOU ALSO MAY HAVE HAD ANCESTORS IN THE CIVIL WAR , SO LOOK THROUGH PENSION AND MILITARY RECORDS. IF I THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE I WILL LET YOU KNOW.
TERRY
