I am g-granddaughter of Delitha Higgins and Bland Tobin(Lobin) Smallie. Delitha was adopted as a child by the Higgins family. We believe Mr. Higgins was a preacher/minister on the Indian reservation where she lived. She was either Cherokee or Chippewa. Her parents may have somehow been killed and that is why she was available for adoption. Her first name is also a confusion. We have heard it pronounced "Delitha", "Litha", "Lithia", "Olitha", and recently "Aleda". We are not sure if her Indian name was supposed to be used and people either couldn't spell or pronounce it correctly. She and Bland Tobin Smallie were married approx. 1889 and had 8 children.

Grace Ann Smallie Clark Naeser 1898-1978

Does anyone have any information ? Did the reservations keep records of Preachers that ministered to the Indians ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
