I'm not sure if this is of help to you, but there is a Gottschee/Kocevje Society in New York in either Brooklyn or Queens. I'll have to dig out the address for you. My in-laws are Gottschee from some of the "suburbs" of Kocevje---Altlag and Starielog (if memory serves me right!) This society published a book on Gottschee that is more a history of the region. The only problem may be that it is in German, unless you are bi-lingual.

My husband's family ties are Stiene, Kikel, Trampisch, Morscher and Eppich. One church mentioned to me in the Kocevje area was either St. Margaret or St. Barbara that was destroyed in WWII. (This church was the marriage site for one set of gggrandparents.
