As far as I know, the marriage certificate never has a place of birth. You need to request a state marriage application and church marriage record. I take it the ancestors had children so the children's church baptismal record should have a place of birth.
What is the male ancestor's place of birth? It is possible that the female ancestor was from same general area as him.

Do your ancestors show up in 1940, 1930, 1920 or 1910 census? Is there a notation Na-naturalized; Al-alien or Pa-first paper on any of them?
