Magdalence Surname

Hello, I am looking for more information on my grandparents. I know that my grandparents were slovenian and lived/born near Trieste, Italy. On my grandfather's WWII draft registration it said he was from Brezes. But, I suspect it was Brezjes or something like that. I recall that my mom said he lived outside of Trieste. The family names of my grandmother were Scuk (or Schuk) and my great grandmother's last name appears to have been Kos.

Any information about a church or records for that area which was part of both Austria and Italy would be appreciated. Thanks Ray Sternot
