Email # 4 extract....

The Slovene Ethnographic Museum in LJ has an online photo collection of b&w photos taken in 1962 of the Loska Dolina villages, people, traditional farming implements, clothing, houses, stables etc.

A search for Babno Polje list 3 photos plus a publication ( I think), the title being "My Babno Polje'

Makarovič, Marija (ur.): Moje Babno polje
Avtor: author
Mojca Ramšak
Strani: pages ? 337-338

I have found that on other occasions the museum has been really helpful and they all have a good understanding of english.

One of the photos for BP is a scarecrow and another is of an old grandmother (stara babica).

If you open the map below the photo and follow the orange road up you will reach Iga vas where my father was born. So our villages (vas) Babno Polje and Iga vas are very close.

I couldn't find anything for Draga (Loski Potok).

There are listings but for other villages with the same name ( Draga). There are some items for it's municipality , Loski Potok including an article about life during 1801-1840.

At the end there is a summary in english. It is heartbreaking to read of the high infant mortality, the causes of their deaths and episodes of cholera and smallpox.
