Re: Records of illegitimate births

I have corresponded with a person in Slovenia whose ancestor was not recorded in church records because he was illegitimate. If the church sent transcripts to the government there would be nothing to send with an illegitimate birth. I was under the impression the government relied on the church records for their information of male births. Is this incorrect? I can not find records for my Grandfather in Slovenia and am wondering if his is such a case. Thanks for your reply. I appreciate you knowledge of the area!
