Klyuso, Kluso, Klusow - Need Help with Correct Location Spelling
Posted by: Norbert Stevens (ID *****7365) Date: January 09, 2012 at 14:50:53

I need some help with a geography lesson and the correct spelling of a village/town name that I believe was/is in present-day Slovenia.
I have seen the name spelled “Klyuso” and “Kluso” on documents for a Novacek family. I have also seen other Novacek’s from “Klusow”.
The specific document I am researching is a New York arrival record for a Susanna Novacek who arrived at Ellis Island on July 21, 1897 on board the S.S. Noordland. That record indicates that Susanna was from “Klyuso” Hungary and her destination was Scottdale (Westmoreland County) PA where she was going to join her father “Mika” Novacek.
Any help would be appreciated.
Best regards,
Norbert Stevens
