Surnames Skerly/Skerl/Skerlj/Jersinovic/Jersinovich

I'm researching my great-grandparents Alexander and Helena Rose Jersinovich Skerly. I finally located naturalization papers, so I know where they were born, when they came over, etc but I have no information beyond that. Where can I start looking for baptismal/birth records? I know that Alexander was born in Trnovo, Italy/Austria/Slovenia (depending on which document I'm reading, and what point in history it was/where the borders were!) in 1886, and Helena was born in 1891 in Zarejce, Italy/Austria/Slovenia. I found a sister of hers' ship manifest that's hard to read, but may have listed a mother Maria. Where can I start, or does anyone have any information on this family? Alexander's father may possibly be a Joseph but that was a guess by my grandmother. They ended up in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
