I have been reserching the Hrella surname off and on for years with limited success. Slovenians I have met tell me it is not a Slovenian name, but I have found them as far back as the late 1700s in the Crnomelj area. Some are listed as being from Oshevnik, which seems to be modern Jelsevnik, and some from Videm. There are at least two Videms elsewhere in Slovenia, but none now in Bela Krajina. I have however seen the name on an old map (which I an no longer able to find) just a bit south of Doblice. Can anyone help me on two points:
1. The origins of the Hrella surname. Is it German, Hungarian?
2. The problem of Videm. Did it exist at one time in Obcina Crnomej?
