I believe the designation of Marija SKULJ as Slovakia to be incorrect.I find 2 ship manifests for person(s) by this name and both are Slovenian.Ancestry transcribers did error on one manifest and listed her as Slovak but viewing the original doc it is Slovenian
As well the 1930 Pueblo census lists her as Slovenian
Name Age
Jerry Zdravye 53 arr US 1901
Mary Zdravye 42 arr US 1905
Jerry J Zdravye 21
Angela J Zdravye 19
Joe J Zdravye 16
Willie J Zdravye 14
Dorothy Zdravye 8
Note the census lists both as NAturalized US Citizens, in which case most likley only Jerry went through the process and prior to 1922 wives automatically became US Citizens.
As does the 1910 census
Name Age
Jerry Edravja 34
Mary Edravja 23
Mary Edravja 3
Jerry Edravja 1 3/12
Note the surname error it is ZDRAVJA
As does the 1920 census
Name Age
Jerry Zdlaevge 43
Mary Zdlaevge 32
Mary Zdlaevge 12
Jerry Zdlaevge 10
Julia Zdlaevge 9
Joe Zdlaevge 6
William Zdlaevge 4
[4 1/12]
This census gives 1905 as their year of NAturalization
There is a man called Johann ZDRAVJE that the Ellis Island web page has mistranscribed as
First Name: Johann
Last Name: Zdeavye
Ethnicity: Austrian
Last Place of Residence: Laibach
Date of Arrival: Feb 24, 1902
Age at Arrival:20yGender:MMarital Status:S
Ship of Travel: La Champagne
Port of Departure: Havre
Destination to Pueblo CO to brother J???
Jerry is not a name that one would find in Slovenia, obviously the name was changed in Colorado
