Hi there, and thanks for your response. I've got absolutely NOTHING from the Old Country except for an old, faded photograph of a family in front of a clapboard house with some cows. I do believe they were married in Europe for the same reason that you do - it says on both ships' manifests that they were married, and their eldest child was born ca. 1899/1901. I've been playing around with the names a bit, and I'm wondering if Popish/Pahes may be a corruption of Papez, for which I'm getting a lot more hits. I don't even know where to begin looking through European sources. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!
