My grandfather had a sister, Angela, who came to the US and settled in Ohio several years after my grandfather. She had previously sent some additional notes on my grandfather's family that we just discovered.

She says my grandfather, Anton, was born in Krka Vas or Makrong (he may have lived there before coming to the US). This is documented on his naturalization papers as just Krka (Austria). His birth date is June 16, 1880. He immigrated to Baltimore, MD from Bremen, Germany on the "Necker" in the fall of 1903. He did not go through Ellis Island.

There is a family story that he originally came to the US as a stowaway and was sent back to Slovenia where he served in the military for some time before getting his visa and returning in 1903. We do have copies of his naturalization documents but have never seen a passport. It was during his naturalization that our family name was changed to Hovar.

According to Angela there were 4 living siblings:
Mary (never married)
Francis (married a Hocevar, stayed in Slovenia)
Angella (moved to Ohio, US)
Jennie (married Magonik, stayed in Slovenia)

There were some notes about some other siblings that may have died.
