vjk,
I mean no harm, I give an other point of view. Maybe it's uncomfortable to hear, that an outsider airing the dirty laundry of a Slovakian internal political problem, but the periodical Hungarian bashing is getting tiresome too.
I have to disappoint you, Kupán is an ancient Hungarian surname, believe me I researched it, but would be just as proud if it would be Slavic. Many in the Kupán dynasty married Polish and Kiev Rus princesses: http://flemingmultimedia.com/Genealogy/MihalyKupanofSamogy.htmlhttp://flemingmultimedia.com/Genealogy/MihalyKupanofSamogy.html
One Kupán indeed can be found in the collection of Russian surnames as Kupan, Hungarian Bishop, who fell at Przemysl, defending Kiev in 1099 against the Kumans, maybe that's what you're thinking of: Paul Goldschmidt's Dictionary of Period Russian Names - Section KP: http://sca.org/heraldry/paul/kp.htmlhttp://sca.org/heraldry/paul/kp.html
Anyway, if you have any other Kupan, be Slavic or not, please let me know.
To satisfy you hunger for more "stupid mouth", it's old history for the learned, but I'm sure will be new for some.
Per the previously here cited "Semino report 2000" DNA testing confirmed, that there's no such a thing as Slavic genes. TheEu19 marker, highest in the Hungarian, Polish, Ukranian, Croatian, Saami, Macedonian, Mari, etc. population, could be called the Scythian a.k.a. Sarmatian genes, of which some nations switched languages.
And finally, some Sarmatian history from the Vistula and Danube regions from "The Decline And Fall Of The Roman Empire XIX". Look for: "The Quadian and Sarmatian war, A.D. 357,358,359." footnotes 47, 48:
"when one of the barbarians, casting his shoe into the air, exclaimed with a loud voice, Marha! Marha! a word of defiance".
Marha in Hungarian means Cattle, Animal, Idiot!
