Alice,
You're welcome.
Slovak would be better, but English might work. Many young people in Slovakia are learning English today; Hlohovec is nearboth the spa town of Pies't'any, which has long been a tourist draw, and the university city of Trnava.Even if no one in the families knows English, they should have no problem finding someone who does.It can't hurt to try.Be sure to include information about your ancestors that might ring a bell with them.(When I first met relatives in my mother's family's village, I mentioned my great-grandfather's name; they knew that their great-grandfather had had a brother with that name who went to America.)If you want to try also to send a letter in Slovak, you may be able to find a website with what is know as a "blind" letter of introduction.
