Denise,
You get a pass on this question. The history that you and I studied was very defficient in information about what went on in Central Europe and beyond.
Bohemian is a synonim for Czech. The Czechs lived in a place that had been the stomping grounds of an ancient tribe called the Boeii(sic). I don't recall if they were Celts or Germans. I believe the name has lasted because the French still use the term "Boheme" when refering to the Czechs.
When the Slavs migrated into Central Europe around 500-600 AD they were so numerous that they overwhelmed the older tenets and either displaced them or absorbed them. The Slavs that settled farther east moved in with a maraudinghord called the Avars until they were powerful enough to take over. The resulting combination produced a peculiar people called Slovaks. They are noted for being able to sing and dance for exceedingly long periods as long as strong drink is provided.
