Using the 1828 Hungarian census list of villages as a resource, there was no village name starting with "Smr". The family name would have been spelled Smrcina, as you have found.
To locate any historical genealogy data it is mandatory to determine the village of origin. In 1880, Czech and Slovakia did not exist so don't be mislead by those references or to Czechoslovakia. It was the Austro-Hungarian Empire for a thousand years. Bohemia may be the best clue you currently have.
The other clue you have already found is that the Google references are in Czech Republic.
Given what little we think we know, the likely origin is Bohemia area of Czech Republic. I would stick with that premise and go from there.
The Czechs have not allowed their records to be filmed by LDS and so the only method of obtaining historical data is to first locate the village of origin and then ask the appropriate Czech archive to do family research for a fee.
Good luck on your search.
