Arva is the Hungarian name for Orava County. It's in northwest Slovakia bordering Poland. Bobrov is right on the border too. It's about 10 miles west of Zakopane, Poland and directly north of the Slovak town of Trstena. There is no Osada in Orava today but there is an Osadka. It's a few miles east ofthe district center of Dolny Kubin.
Bobrov is a good sized village of 1300 hardy souls. The postal code is 029 42 if you want to write them and the telephone area code is 43.
Osadka has only 160 souls. This means everybody is related to everybody else. You have a lot of relatives here. Postal code is 027 01 and phone code is 43.
You can search the Slovak phone book at www.zoznamst.sk for
any family name. Click on "bytovy stanice" ( resdential exchanges). Enter the surname at "prievisko" and the area code at "smerove cislo". This will give you an index of all the folks with that surname around Dolny Kubin. Click on any surname and you get the details. You can leave out the area code and enter the village name at "miesto" and search only in the village. Search is "vyhladat" and back is "spat".
The song that all Oravc'anci sing is "Na Orave dobre' na Orave zdravo".
Hope this helps.
Charlie
