My great grandmother was named Ada/Adah "Enola" Slocum and she had a sister Ruth. I don't know much more as of yet about that sister other than Ruth. Her father's name was Archibald Albert Slocum and her mother's name was Lena Coon (I am also finding Deva Hoener and Lena Hoener). Archibald's father appears to have been Albert Joseph Slocum. His mother is listed as Amanda V Freelove, daughter of Rodney Freelove, in the Slocum books, but her death date in those books is before Archibald's birth. Also, I found his church baptism record and it shows his mother as an Angelian Slocum. I know that Albert apparently married a Mary Ryan from Ireland after his first wife's death and had two other children, Cernard Patrick Slocum and John E/John Paul Slocum. I think Albert's father was an Ebenezer Slocum who's own father was named Ezra. They would have lived in Locke and Moravia (my whole family is from Moravia) New York. My aunt remember Enola telling her that her own great grandmother was a pure native american by the name of Freelove. This might have some connection with Amanda and Rodney above, but I can't find any information on either of them anywhere to confirm the indian connection. I can't find a lot of information on any of them period. My aunt thought that we might be descended from Freelove Slocum, but I can't find any good links there either. Does anyone have any information on this group of Slocums? I can give dates if anyone thinks they might. Enola married a Heisner. That is my family line. I would appreciate any help you all could give me. My information is pretty limited. Thanks!
