Alvie,
I don't have any solid proof of Catherine's parents either, only the info from Stanley Sloan's book. Looking at my census research, John & Rachel seem to be the only logical parents in Thomas/Colquitt Co. Ga. Right now, I don't have access to see the original 1850 census, but I have in my notes that John 65 & Rachel 62 Sloan are living with John 50 & Rebecca 55! Gregory. This record doesn't make sense to have Rebecca 10 years younger that her father. These Gregorys may tie together, but I don't have the connection.

I don't see any possible proven connection for this family to the DAR. I have never found any proven parents of John Sloan h/o Rachel. I think the LDS:IGI says this John was a son of John Sloan (& Nancy Wells) of Duplin Co. NC., however he is not mentioned in John's will, so I don't know the proof of that statement.

Any revelations you find are appreciated.

Regards,
Frank Mitchell
