Interesting Letter about William Sloan and his sister who married a Powell

Still trying to figure out who is who. I have a letter from 1956 from a Robert F Powell. He states in the letter that his great-grandmother Powell was a sister to William Sloan. I believe this William is abt 1806 N.C. and moved from there to Alabama or Georgia and then on to West Point, Mississippi area and finally possibly Texas.

Any clues? This gentleman was writing a book about the Sloans in the mid-50s.
