Looking for descendents of James Sloan and 1st wife Rachel Kirkpatrick Sloan of Logan Co., OH., for exchange of family history. James Sloan, b. 1818,PA., father b.MD., mother b.NJ. (Source: 1880 Census, Kenton, Hardin Co., OH.) James d. Oct 13, 1892 in Kenton, Hardin Co., OH. His 1st wife Rachel Kirkpatrick, b. 1822,PA., d. sometime after birth of daughter Rachel in 1861, Logan Co., OH.
In 1860 James, age 42, & Rachel, age 38, were living in Cherokee, Logan Co., OH., with children; Marietta, 14, Julia, 12, Mary (Marion), 10, Elvira, 8, Cynthia, 4, William H. (Henry), 5, Joseph, 2 and Eliza Kirkpatrick, 38, b.PA, sister of Rachel.
James remarried abt 1863 to Sarah Roll? They are listed in the 1870 census, McArthur, Logan Co., with additional children born to this union. James daughter Rachel by 1st wife is age 9 in this census.
James & Sarah Sloan eventually moved to Kenton, Hardin Co., OH., where they are listed in the 1880 census.
I have recently posted obits and other research data found of four of James & Rachel Sloan's children on the OHIO Genealogy Message Board Forum on 8/27/07;
Joseph G. Sloan, b. 1858, d. 1942, CA., Cynthia (Sloan) Tullis, b. 1856, d. 1927, OH., Francis Marion Sloan, b. 1849, d. 1924, OH., Henry Sloan, b. 1855, d. 1917, OH.
Henry Sloan's Obit mentions his surviving siblings, Joseph, Marion and Cynthia Tullis.
Would like to hear from anyone connected to these families.
