Hello, Jennifer,
Thanks for your inquiry. Sorry to be so long in replying; I've tried a couple of times without success, and I hope this makes it to you. I've not come across any Sloans in England in my research yet. My folks came to the US from County Antrim ca. 1870, settled in Brooklyn, NY and most have fled to the south over the succeeding generations. There are many Sloan families here, but most came in the great migration of Scots-Irish from Ulster in the early 1700's. All I know about my Ulster folks is that they apparently lived in Ballymena, in County Antrim and were Protestants (Church of Ireland). If you think there's a connection, please let me know. Before the Ulster Protestant settlements in the 1600's, the Sloans apparently lived in Scotland, especially around Kirkcudbright. Good Hunting!
John Sloan
