The birth date that I quoted, 10th June 1770, was computed from Samuel's headstone, which gives his death date as 30th September 1849. This is substantiated by the absolutely solid legal evidence of the date on which his will was presented to the Probate Court, 15th October 1849. The stone then provides his age at death as 79 years, 3 months & 20 days. You can redo this calculation to see what answer you get.

There is an erroneous date of 1760 floating around. This resulted from a type setting error in the book "Names in Stone" by Holdcraft, which turned his death date into 30th September 1839 and that error propagated into the computation. I have never seen the 1765 date before. I suppose someone is guessing. If so, that was not a bad guess; I have seen some which were off by 20 years.
