might has some sort of link here. My grandfather came from Longford / leitrim - they have a few farms so in either county. He did have a brother or two ( my father is checking out these details) who did emigrate to the states around the times you have stated. There are still one or two Slevins left around there but there is little information as to what happened the Slevins that emigrated. I am in the process of trying to research the family name and will let you know what I find. I am from Dublin Ireland originally but now live with my family in Australia.
