Hello,

I can answer your question. I traveled to Devonshire England and did research on Thomas Sleeper. I even found the little town of Goodleigh, the curch still exists. I have about five reams of paper on them. The first record was of Thomas Sleeper in Goodleigh born about 1498. He had 13 children one of which was a Thomas with a twin brother named John. It is long and convoluted but all indications at Barnestple convince me the family was in either the weaving trade or shipbuilding which were the two biggest industries there at the time. Had to have been a landowner too. I was not able to research the deed room where trade records etc were kept. I did find enough to convice me that the Thomas Sleeper who landed in Hampton NH in 1616 was from this Thomas in Goodleigh, Devonshire.
