There is a possibility that she was Leola B, daughter of James Alexander Slayton b ca 1845 and Abbara/Harriet (?). We are not sure how many marriages James A had. Another James A daughter Nancy married Daniel Black, and a descendant named Ira Loveless (here in Birmingham) told me he remembered a Fitts marriage. There were also Ezell and Loveless marriages.
James A is a son of William b ca 1813, who is a son of Obediah, who is a son of Joseph Slayden. The Tuscaloosa people shifted to SLAYTON from Slayden in VA-Slaton in GA.
Obediah is the only son of Joseph (that I know of) who went to Wilkes co GA and lived near his UNCLE's people. His uncle was Arthur Slayden who mar Rosamund Pugh. In about 1830, Obediah and his wife Rebecca (Darden)moved to Tuscaloosa, and I suspect they are buried in Bowers Park there. Most of Obediah's brothers either stayed in VA or moved to midwestern TN.
However, this is all moot if I am wrong in identifying Bama with Leola B.
Please remember that there are "white" and "black" families and I do not know where you fit. Contact me at [email protected] if any of this sounds likely.
