Thanks for your reply - if you are descendant of Charles Hayward Slayne (my 4XGreat Grandfather), then we are cousins for sure.

I am just starting my researches into the Slaynes (my 2XGreat Grandmother is the Annie Slayne to which you response refers who married my ancestor Fred Mellish)

I'm back in Bristol, my home town, next week on a family trip and may have an opportunity to dip into the city archives in between family visits. I am glad you've mentioned St James Parish as I would have started in SS Philips & Jacobs parish.

I wil share what I garner with you but would really appreciate any additional information. Have just acquired Charles Hayward's Slayne's death certificate.
