Sharron,
Would really like to share information with you. We have copies of Lucy and Arthur's marriage bond, Daniel Slaydon's will, some deeds, and various documents from Thomas Shelton and his ancestors. Also have copies of the orphans indentures of Sanford G. & Thomas Slayton when Arthur died. Have been posting Civil War records of Sanford's and Hickmond's descendants.
Currently we have descendants of all of Lucy's chidren except for Sarah and Thomas on our developmental family forum.Recently received some documents pertaining to the family's time in Madison County, TN ie, Sanford's purchase of the LaFayette Inn in Jackson and his opening a Gold&Silversmith shop in Jackson prior to coming to TX in 1839.
We now have copies of Lucy's and Sanford's Texas Republic Land Grant Records, some of Sanford's probate records and the deed where Hickmond purchased a brick plant in Jefferson Texas in the 1850s'. The current owner of Sanford's plantation in Marion County has also filled in some of the missing pieces. Fred McKenzie included a letter from a neighbor describing the wedding of Sanford G. & Mary Annabell Clark Slayton's daughter Lucy Clark Slayton to Ed L. Lawrence in his book. Descendants of Lucy and Ed Lawrence have preserved some of the family history.
Lucy & Sanford and Mary Annabell Clark Slayton were buried in a family plot on Sanford's plantation. When the highway that runs near (and over part of) Lake of the Pines was built, a small plot of land was separated from the rest of the plantation. That was the land where the cemetery was located. This happened prior to the purchase of the land by Mr. Fred McKenzie. A brick home was constructed over the unmarked graves. I understand that recently, the home was torn down.Would love to see about getting some kind of marker there. They are Texas Republic Citizens of Marion County.
