Without knowing where you saw this listing I can't be 100 percent positive, but it looks like a generation numbering scheme... I don't remember the name of it right off, but it's not the ahnentafel system. Anyway, if that's correct, and the "J" stands for "John Slavin of County Tyrone" who is progenitor of many of the U.S.'s Slavens lines, then William Edward's ancestry is (according to "A Not So Short History of the Slavens Family is America): John Slavin of County Tyrone (the "J") Isaiah Slavens (sixth child of John) William Stewart Slavens (second child of Isaiah) Henry Ballis Slavens (eighth child of William Stewart) Walker Edward Slavens (13th child of Henry Ballis) Herschel B. Slavens (second child of Walker Edward) William Edward Slavens (third child of Herschel B.) The "Not So Short..." doesn't include the above numbering/identification system, but "the F.L. Slaven" book does... although the version of it that I have doesn't go down William Edward. Hope that helps! Notify Administrator about this message?
