John,
You message interests, and confuses, me. You mention several marriage and families who moved from Virginia to Ohio, but you give no dates, or even approximate dates, for any of these events.
My gggrandfather, John Ruckman, and his wife Polly came to Pike County, Ohio, sometime between 1815 and 1820. They were also from Virginia. In about 1823,Mary Ruckman married John Slavens, also from Virginia, in Pike county. They had a son Reuben Slavens, born about 1825. I believe that Mary is the sister of John Ruckman. It is known that she went to Ohio with John. There was also another Ruckman - Slavens marriage in this family in this same time frame. I don't recall, off the top of my head, if it was in Ohio or Virginia.
The thing that really sparked my interest is the mention of Staunton, Virginia. Where is Staunton? I am looking for where my gggrandparents married. There oldest child was born in Virginia. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack, made even harder because I don't know where the haystack is.
Have you ever checked out the GenWeb site for Pike County? It has some good information on marriages. The same person also maintains the Genweb site for several neighboring counties, and the information is equally good on those sites. The transcribed 1850 census for Pike County is available on USGenWeb.
