The book is "Descendants of James Hervey Slavens" by Luther Slavens in the cataloge of the Springfield MO Library
I don't have a copy, just some scans and I don't live in Missouri. At one point the book relates the relatives and locals visited by the James Hervey Slavens family during the Civil War. They were refugess from Southwestern MO 1862-1864.
John March and Sarah Warden Slavens lived in Putnam County,Indiana.John March Slavens was a physician and surgeon, and he(along with John"Jack"Slavens,Joseph W.R.Slavens,and Zenas Ludolphus Slavens practiced medicine with Dr.James Hervey Slavens in Portland Mills,Putnam County,Indiana during these years. Luther was an 8 year old kid at the time, so as many sentences are spent on schoolyear learning and hi-jinks as on family. The perspective is fascinating.
