Abiah Gillet and John Slafter or Slaughter (colonial CT)

On many of the online trees, I find people showing John Slafter (the original ancestor documented in the Slafter Memorial book) married to Abiah Gillet. I think this may be a mistake. As best I can tell, there appears to be two Johns. There is John Slafter (abt 1660 to bef 1754) who lived in Lynn MA, had ten children 1688~1706, and later moved to Tolland Co CT. Then there is a John Slaughter who lived in Hartford Co CT, who married Abiah (Gillit) Bartlett in 1669, and they had six children 1670~1682, and died in 1713 and 1716 respectively. Their vitals are found in the Simsbury CT town records.

The distinct sets of children are about 20 years apart, and have different names. Slaughter of Hartford died in 1713 (still in Hartford), while Slafter of Tolland is in evidence well into the 1730s.

It looks to me like Abiah Gillet doesn't belong with John Slafter. Does anyone know any better?
