JOHN A. SLATE born 1787 in Virginia and died between 1870 and 1880 in Wright County, Missouri.
Well it’s a new year, so lets see what we can find out about my SLATE line.
I am looking for the name of John A. SLATE’s first wife and the names of their children. They had two sons and one daughter. I am sure that the daughter’s name was Harriett SLATE born in Henry County Tennessee in 1837. Harriett is reported in the household of Harrison Smith (#230) in the
1860 Wright County Missouri Census. At this time she is 18 years old. There is no indication of why she is in this household. I am less sure of the Name of their oldest child, but it is thought to be James SLATE, who died
in 1896 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The second son is said by some to have been John SLATE.
John A. SLATE married a second time to September 10, 1838 in Henry County, Tennessee to Frances (Fannie) HAMBLIN. John A. SLATE and Fannie HAMBLIN had 8 children, the oldest of which was my Great-Grandfather Henry Chesterfield SLATE born March 1, 1840 in Henry County, Tennessee.
I am most interested in communicating with any one researching this line, and would be glad to exchange information.
