Josiah Slade, son of Joseph and Rhoda Slade, was born in Rensselaer Co. NY, in 1821. In 1836 he moved to Madison Co., NY, and in 1846 came to Castile, Wyoming Co., NY, where he has since 1858 been employed as a dealer in producte and in Scotch and American granite. He was married in 1850 to Miss MARTHA A. SCOTT, daughter of Isaac and Mary Scott, of Allegany Co.,NY. Of his five children, Mary I. Slade, M.D., is a graduate of the Ann Arbor Medical Institute.
