Kay:
I have only just signed up to the forum and have just found your message from 2003.
My mother was a Slade, the family originating in the small hamlets of Old Cleeve, Roadwater and Leighland, a few miles east of Minehead.
Last week, my wife and I had a short 3 day break in the area to try and find out more information, and in the course of a visit to Minehead, we found more Slade connections.
I haven't found a direct link between the two sets of Slades as yet, but as there is such a short distance between Minehead and Old Cleeve, there must be a link somewhere.
Anyway, to your message. Whilst searching in Minehead Cemetery, we came across a number of Slade graves and have taken photos/copied transriptions. One of those we found was to:
Joanna Slade who died August 11 1926 age 78 and also of
William Slade, husband of the above who died March 16th 1929 aged 79.
Hope these are yours.
