I am trying to find information on John and James Skirving who immigrated to America from Scotland with their mother just before th Civil War. Both brothers were with Sherman in his "March to the Sea". John was too young to fight but he was a drummer boy and was captured and sent to Libby Prison. After the war, James married Mary Nicholson at Dawes, Iowa.
