My Samuel Skinner went to Edgecombe Co., NC (Nash Co). By 1754, he lived on Stoney Creek across the Tar River (From what is now Rocky Mount) in that part of Edgecombe which became Nash Co. in 1777. During the Revolutionary War, Samuel Sr. furnished supplies to the Army, for which the DAR has accepted his service, Nat # 477968 - supplemental. About 1798, Samuel Sr. and his children (and others incuding Emanuel Skinner who may have been another child of his) removed to TN and KY. I do not know when or where Samuel died but I believe he left NC. Tax list of 1800, Logan Co., KY; Samuel (Sr or Jr.?) William Skinner. About 1802-1803 they went on to Christian Co., KY (the part which became Trigg Co. in 1820).
See "Trigg C., KY" by Perrin, published 1884 - Dry Creek setlement, page 11 and 116.
This information sent by mrs. Charles C. Rummels to Esther Welch Adams who compled the book, "The Tishomingo Co. Connection", Skinners and related families.
This Samuel had a son born about 1770 and died abou 1824. which may be the one to which you refer.
I'll be happy to share any other info with you. Good to hear from you.
