Skinner family glass plate negatives 1891-1923
In 2002, Peggy, a museum patron from Southern California, donated 25 glass plate negatives to our museum in Stafford County, Kansas. The negatives were found in her home in California after she bought it.
There were two interesting coincidences about the negatives.
One is that the previous owner of the home in California had some connection to Stafford County, Kansas, where Peg’s ancestors are from.
The second coincidence is that the surname most associated with the negatives is the same as Peggy's married surname, but Peggy and the previous homeowner are unrelated and were unknown to each other before the sale of the house.
The negatives date between 1891-1923. Names associated with the negatives are: Bertha Skinner, Henry Skinner, Nancy Skinner, Howard Skinner, Ella Skinner. Possibly Albert Skinner, Caryl Skinner, Halez Clark (?) and Mrs. Holt.
(And there are two 8x10 negatives of a "Marquette Loom.")
The photographer is unknown as is the location where the negatives were created.
If anyone has any information about these negatives, or knows to what family or town/county they belong, please contact me at the Stafford County Museum, 100 N. Main Street, Stafford, KS 67578. [email protected].
