Skillman Web Site Update
I recently updated my Skillman genealogy web site at http://members.aol.com/wskillman/gene.htmhttp://members.aol.com/wskillman/gene.htm Two major changes are:
1. Unprivatized but secure descendancy of Thomas Skillman (TomsTree) The online version of TomsTree and the older downloadable version are privatized to suppress data on Living persons. This secure, encrypted version contains complete data on all persons. However, to decrypt the file you need a password (actually a passphrase) which you can obtain by e-mailing me with an explanation of why you are interested in data on living people. The complete process is described on the site's home page.
The online and privatized downloadable versions have not been updated yet.
2. I have converted Wm. S. Stryker's book "Genealogical Record of the Strycker Family" published in 1887, to electronic (PDF) format which you can also download from the site. My 4th great grandmother, Maria D. Stryker appears as #386 in the book. I know of about 10 other Stryker/Skillman marriages, so you may find an ancestor of yours in the book.
Several people have sent me information about the parentage of Sarah Petit, the wife of Thomas, our 1664 immigrant ancestor. My site continues to list her parents as John Petit and Sarah Schofield, but the consensus appears to favor Thomas Pettit and Christian (Christina) Mellowes. Let me know what your research has turned up. I will try to include a summary of this research in my next update.
I'm always eager to receive more information about Thomas Skillman's descendants, please send me whatever you have. We still have a long way to go to connect many Skillmans and other descendants back to Thomas.
William A.(Bill) Skillman, 7th great grandson of Thomas, still alive and kicking in Linthicum, MD
