Sheri,
Several years ago I paid a local genealogist in Jersey City (now deceased) to find information on these people.I remember that he found census records indicating a household which consisted of George, Lulu, and Sarah Skillman along with William and Ella Anderson and their children.
Send me your address and I will try to copy the information and also send you a letter which Isaac Skillman wrote in 1885 regarding a trip to New York and New Jersey. He speaks of Franklin Skillman and his siblings, Sidney, Julia and George Raymond Skillman.
I have traced all of these lines and have considerable information on the George Raymond and Julia Skillman lines.Sidney had two children, one daughter who never married and a son who married but had no children. The descendants of Dr. Thomas Skillman and Caroline Raymond Skillman are today through George Raymond, Franklin and Julia (Mrs. Oliver Clifton Wilson).
Julia's late grandson, Percy Suydam Wilson, was a retired engineer and an active genealogist in New Jersey I did correspond with him until his death a few years ago at the advanced age of 90 something.Another grandchild was Caroline Christy, wife of A. Barrett Davidson of Connecticut.
I correspond with several of George Raymond Skillman's descendants. He married Mary Catherine Lockwood and had nine children. Two remained in the vicinity of Chester, Pennsylvania while the others removed to Pasadena, California around the turn of the century. His children were; Sarah Lockwood Skillman(Mrs. Wood); Edwin Lockwood Skillman, Carrie Raymond Skillman, George Raymond Skillman, Julia Wilson Skillman (Mrs. Alexander Hagerty); LeGrand Raymond Skillman, Lewis Thomas Skillman, Mary Virginia Skillman (Mrs. Anthony and Mrs. Vickroy); and Gordon Lockwood Skillman.
What was the maiden name of the wife of George Henry Skillman?Who mention Maria L., would this be Maria Louise, known as Lulu?
Michael
