I am a descendent of Clarrisa Skillington and Bennett Hargrove, Jr. There are about 5 of us trying to figure out who her parents were.
(See other entries this forum). We thought that Dicey Skillington was her father, but now it seems that he may have been appointed by the Williamson County, Virgina Court as a guardian for Clarissa and 3 of her siblings, John A., Elizabeth and Cynthia. At this point, we aren't even sure whether Dicey was a male or female. I have an email from a descendent of Elizabeth Skillington that says there was a George Whithorn who was also appointed guardian along with Dicey. There is also someone named Lou Dicey and a woman who was in her 70's in 1850 named Ludica. If you have any information that can help straighten this out there would be at least 5 people that would bless you.
