My husband family came to Arkansas in the mid-1800's. His line is Donald, Hubert, Max Elmo, John William, George Anderson, James Alexander, William Jr, William Skillern.
William Skillern, b. abt. 1710 came to America, Orange County, VA from Ulster, Ireland around 1735 and died about 10 years later. William Jr. born around 1739 in VA died in VA around 1816. James Alexander moved the family to TN where he died before 1826. George Anderson came to Arkansas first settling around Searcy but soon moving to the Cabot area. George died around 1893 and is buried at Old Austin Cemetery with no tombstone. His brother Isaac Campbell Alexander is also in Old Austin Cemetery. John William is listed on the 1880 Census in Prairie County as a saloon keeper - so I've been told - I still haven't found them on the census.
I would love corresponding to anyone researching the Skillern Family in Arkansas and to those with ties to this family.
