Sarah C. Skiles, White County, IL 1874

Trying to find information on my gg-grandparents John Peter Heffner and Sarah C. "Scyler" (a name so rare in census data and online that I suspect it's some sort of typo or misrecollection) has proved very difficult for a variety of reasons, but I think I might have come upon a useful lead. I found a marriage record in the database online for "Peter Hoffner" and "Sarah C. Skiles" in White County, Illinois in 1874. Given that John P. Heffner his wife first had a recorded kid in 1876, and that they were in White County, Illinois in the 1880 census, they might be the people I'm looking for.

Unfortunately, I don't have very much certain info about Sarah C. Skiles, if that is who I seek. For the 1880, 1900, and 1910 censuses, she gave different answers to where her parents were born every time.

1880: Father Illinois, Mother Illinois
1900: Father Kentucky, Mother Ohio
1910: Father Indiana, Mother Indiana

In 1920 she apparently gave up and said her parents were both from "U.S.A."

What does seem pretty clear is that she herself was born in either 1851 or 1852 (the census of 1900 gives Aug 1851) in Indiana. She might've been the same Sarah Skiles as was found in either of these census records:

1860 in White County, Illinois:
George H. Skiles (b. 1809) - From Pennsylvania
Catherine Skiles (b. 1809) - From Virginia
John Skiles (b. 1844) - from Ohio
Isaac Skiles (b. 1846) - from Indiana
Sarah Skiles (b. 1853) - from Indiana
Alex Skiles (b. 1828) - from Pennsylvania
Martin E. Matsell (b. 1859) - From Illinois

1870 in White County, Illinois:
Isaac Skiles (b. 1846) - from Ohio
Sarah Skiles (b. 1849) - from Ohio
Mary Skiles (b. 1868) - from Illinois
Catharine Skils (b. 1808) - from Virginia

Though of course the 1870 Sarah Skiles might've been Isaac's wife, not his sister.

If you have any information about a Sarah C. Skiles who would have been in White County, Illinois in 1874, or anything about the two families found in White County in the censuses of 1860 and 1870 to either disprove or provide more material for my hypothesis on Sarah's family, please let me know!
