Cherie,

I read (again) your posting with the link to Gideon Skiles. I have poured over the sketch of Samuel and I am more than confused.

I have found my Daniel Andrew Skiles. His Father was Daniel E Skiles born around 1896-1897 in Pennsylvania. He listed both of his parents being born in PA.

So I subtract 23 years since he is listed on the 1920 Washington County Census record as 23, and this puts him being born about 1896-1897 in Penn.

So I found the 1900 census record for Washington County, Pa and there is my Daniel E. SKiles, born 1896. I was elated! His Father is listed as Samuel, Mother is Emma.

HOWEVER...just when I think I have it all figured out, I read your sketch of Samuel G. Skiles m. to Emma. The children outlined in the sketch are not the same children listed on the census record, with the exception of one female named Flora.

Other than the children, all of the dates within the sketch coincide with the census record.

What are your thoughts on this?

Angela Harrell
