Skelton Family Genealogy Forum

Hi folks,
I'm researching John Skelton who lived in England at time of War of the Roses into Henry viii reign, say 1460-1547. This Skelton went to Oxford & Cambridge universities, was internationally famous as a poet & Latin translator, but is also known as much for his ribald & risque verse as for his brilliant translations of Latin into English.
Has anyone come across this man John Skelton 1460-1529 in their family research? Efforts were made in the 1930's to trace his place of birth & genealogy but drew a blank, however, things have changed in almost 100yrs. He is thought to have originated in NW England, Cumberland or Westmoreland or perhaps Yorkshire or Norfolk. He had a wife name unknown, & children also unknown. Was a rector at Diss Norfolk a man of the cloth.
Regards Will
