Thomas Skelly was born in 1815 to Thomas Skelly and Margaret Troy. He married Margaret Tynan in Ireland around 1838/40. Margaret was the daughter of James Tynan and Catherine Spencer children born in Ireland were,
James Born 1840
Sarah Margaret 1841.
In 1842 the family came to Australia leaving James with a Mrs Murray in Roscrae.In 1847 James came to Australia.Margaret was baptised by Rev, J. Blake of Roscrae.
